Misuse of Church Funds and Exploitation of the Christian Community in Village 190

Prosecution Watch Investigation –Field Report

In recent weeks, a disturbing situation unfolded in Village 190, Pakistan, where a wave of police brutality left the Christian residents in a state of fear and vulnerability. During this crisis, some seasoned politicians figures once considered respected leaders and even former ministers were quick to step forward with promises of solidarity. Local people confirmed that one such personality, J. Salik, a well-known former minister, openly declared his support for the community in their time of need.

However, upon closer investigation of his public activities and social media records, troubling details emerged. While J. Salik has long portrayed himself as a defender of Christian rights, our field team discovered serious allegations of financial exploitation.

According to church members, an amount of PKR 650,000 was taken from church donations under his influence.

Families were asked to pay for vehicle rentals during his visits.

Shockingly, a young Christian woman facing an FIR (First Information Report) was reportedly pressured for money in exchange for filing a counter-FIR against the police.

Currently, J. Salik is said to be urging families in distress to sell their homes and belongings, directing the proceeds to him under the guise of “legal expenses.”

This is not the first time such complaints have surfaced. In Islamabad, Christian sanitary workers allege that their wages were used to cover his household expenses—ranging from electricity and gas bills to monthly rations.

Furthermore, his son, David Salik, currently based in the United States, is said to be collecting funds from foreign donors in his father’s name, allegedly without transparent accounting.

These revelations raise pressing questions about accountability and the exploitation of a marginalized community already suffering under systemic injustice. Instead of receiving genuine support, the Christian community appears to be burdened further caught between police brutality on one side and financial exploitation by those claiming to represent them on the other.

Prosecution Watch continues to document these developments and will pursue further evidence to ensure that truth and transparency prevail.
