Islamabad, Pakistan – A chilling incident has shaken the capital city after three members of a Christian family were brutally murdered in Rimsha Colony, Islamabad. The victims were identified as Karamat Paul (60), his 20-year-old son, Shabeel, and his 22-year-old daughter, Nibha.
According to preliminary reports, Karamat Paul had converted to Islam approximately six months ago. Following his conversion, he had been pressuring his children to also embrace Islam. Sources reveal that just five days prior to the attack, Shabeel had participated in a baptism ceremony at a local church, reaffirming his Christian faith despite his father’s insistence.
The tragic murders occurred late at night and are suspected to be linked to ongoing religious tensions within the family. Rights observers fear the killings were motivated by the refusal of Shabeel and Nibha to convert to Islam.
Local police have confirmed the deaths and initiated an investigation. However, Christian rights activists have raised concerns about whether justice will be properly served, citing a long history of religiously motivated violence in Pakistan that often goes unpunished.
Human rights activist Daud Zafar strongly condemned the incident and demanded a thorough, transparent investigation into the case. He emphasized that failure to pursue justice would further embolden those responsible for targeting vulnerable minority families.
This case underscores the dangers faced by religious minorities in the country, particularly when family and societal pressures intersect with faith choices. The brutal killing of Karamat Paul and his children highlights the urgent need for stronger protection mechanisms and impartial investigations into cases of religiously motivated violence.
