JARANWALA – The Christian community in Jaranwala once again finds itself under a dark cloud of fear after fresh threats were delivered to several families in the Esaa Nagri area, warning them to vacate their homes within four days or face violence similar to the previous Jaranwala attacks.

Pictures of the threatening pages, now circulating among residents, have deepened an already fragile sense of security.

Fact-Finding and Legal Action

A fact-finding team led by Mr. Shakeel Bhatti, Legal Head of the Jaranwala cases and himself a survivor of past violence, visited the affected families. During the visit, the team documented the situation and stood in solidarity with the victims.

With the consent of the residents, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the City Police Station in Jaranwala. The FIR was filed by Pastor Rizwan Mall, who ministers in the Esaa Nagri neighborhood and has taken the responsibility of standing with his community at this difficult time.

Fear and Resilience

The Christian community remains on edge. Residents describe living under constant psychological stress, struggling to sleep at night, and feeling haunted by memories of the last violent attack.

Yet, amid the fear, there is also courage. Many families say they will not abandon their homes or churches this time. They believe that their faith gives them strength to endure and resist displacement, even under threat.

Appeal for Urgent Action

Community leaders and advocates are calling for urgent intervention to prevent further violence. “The people of Jaranwala deserve protection, not repeated terror,” said one resident during the fact-finding visit.

The threats have once again brought international attention to the vulnerability of Pakistan’s Christian minority. Their appeal is simple yet urgent: protection, justice, and peace in their homeland.
